Clinical Trials insurance has risen to prominence with the improvement in technology leading to a vast increase in the range and number of new drugs under development.  Clinical Trials insurance rests on the strict protocols which govern each clinical trial and our understanding of these protocols, the manner and stages through which drug trials are conducted, provide us with a leading position in this class of insurance.

Recently, we have seen a growth in the number of underwriters offering clinical trials insurance cover and a variety of policy wordings.  Whilst most Australian trials will be conducted within Australia for Phase I, there is an increasing trend for Phase II and III clinical trials to be undertaken overseas.  This results in the need for Clinical Trials Insurance  to respond to local legislation and the requirements of overseas ethics committees, all of which add another dimension to the selection of an appropriate Clinical Trials Insurance provider.
